You can buy Hawkstriders from Winaestra in Eversong Woods. These mounts are available at level 40 and 60 mount skill. With two new races coming in The Burning Crusade, the Blood Elves and Draenei, we are getting the usual racial mounts that every race gets, such as Kodo or Horses. To get the Flying Mount skill, you have to visit your trainer in either Shadowmoon Valley.
Of course, you can purchase standard ones, but also you can find other special and rare mounts. And also because of the same fact you will need both flying and running mounts. Even though flying mounts are only usable in Outland you will find them really useful.
